Huge Blacky 21 3/4 & wt. 560lbs

Manitoba is recognized by many bear experts as the best place in North America for record book black bear and in particular, the parkland surrounding Riding Mountain National Park. Numerous record book bears are taken in Manitoba every year and Manitoba has also produced a number of huge bears that weighed in excess of 800 pounds.

Our high quality black bear hunts are conducted in an area adjacent to Riding Mountain National Park, which is rolling country comprised of a mixture of aspen forest and agricultural land. Well established baits will maximize your chances to harvest one of the big bears this area is famous for and both spring and fall hunts are available.

Combined, Wendy and I have 70 years of bear hunting experience and 50 years of guiding experience. We have hunted and guided for bear in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. We have been to many different bear camps, hunted in a variety of habitats and have personally taken trophy black bear with archery equipment, muzzleloaders and rifles. Let our experience work for you.

Our 5 day hunts offer outstanding value for the dollar and are significantly less than comparable hunts in other western provinces.  All our bear hunts are personally guided by Wendy and I, we do not hire outside help. We are intimately familiar with our area, the game and the bait sites. There will not be any surprises such as arriving for your hunt and finding out your guide is new to the area or lacks experience.

You have the option of using rifle, muzzleloader, crossbow or archery equipment and hunters take bears that meet the entry requirements for SCI, Pope and Young, Longhunter and Boone & Crockett every year. Our stands and blinds are strategically placed at the bait sites to maximize your chances with your weapon of choice.

Hunters arrive the afternoon of the day prior to their hunt and depart the morning of the day following the last day of their hunt. The hunts are five days and run Monday to Friday.

We will take you to your stand in the early afternoon and return to pick you up at dark. If you have harvested your bear it will be taken back to the shop on our ranch, where it will be skinned and the hide frozen for the trip home. Hunters also have the option of contracting the services of an excellent local taxidermist noted for specializing in black bears mounts.
